“Traditionally, Russia and the United Arab Emirates maintain a stable, trust-based dialogue that is backed up by strong multifaceted contacts on both the highest and high levels. I am certain that these relationships will grow into large-scale investment cooperation and implementation of joint projects. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an important platform for enhancing this cooperation,” said Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.
Representatives of UAE business circles actively participate not only in SPIEF, but also in holding other joint business events. Russia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai that was postponed for a year because of the pandemic was also discussed at the meeting. The Russian pavilion themed ‘Creative Mind: Driving the Future’ will present scientific and cultural achievements of the country, as well as the latest advances of the Russian creative industry. Also, the pavilion will feature a changing exposition of Russian regions.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “UAE and Russia have enjoyed a long-standing relationship across sectors that continue to grow for the mutual benefit of both countries and our people. SPIEF was an excellent opportunity to meet with Russian colleagues where we had fruitful discussions on ways to enhance trade, investment and tourism, as well as cultural, educational and humanitarian cooperation."
His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Jaber, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation, said: “Russia is a key strategic partner of the UAE and we are confident that our relationship will go from strength to strength as we increase cooperation across a number of areas, including diplomacy and trade. Our goals are shared, and both countries are ready to explore further opportunities to deepen our ties, at forums such as SPIEF and later this year at Expo 2020 Dubai.”
Participants of the meeting also discussed holding of a number of Russian-Emirati business events timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the UAE.
