Conference: The role of media in countering terrorism

For 15 years the conference has managed to attract to its discussion platform the great number of journalists, professionals of media and Internet industries together with diplomats and experts of many countries

In 2019, the conference will consider important topics like these:

• Information in the era of fake news. How can professional journalism maintain audience confidence?
• New journalism of bloggers and YouTubers: how to mobilize them to fight terrorism and hate propaganda?
• Cyber terrorism as a new global danger.
• The Internet and social networks as a tool of terrorists.
• Nationalism breeds violence. Is the cooperation of journalists possible when everyone scatters across national apartments?
• Ways of collaboration of journalists and security services to counter terrorism.

The conference will be opened by Leonid Mlechin, IATR Chairman of the board, journalist of the Russian Public Television, Vladimir Kozlov, deputy Chairman of the Russian Agency on Press and Mass Communications and George Frangos, President of the Union of Journalists of Cyprus.

The conference will be attended by journalists and experts from Belgium, Belarus, Greece, Israel, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and other countries. The conference will be supplemented by screenings and discussions.
